Kathryn E., Oct 15, 2009, 8:05AM EDTHow are your eyes? My eye has healed now from the narrow angle surgery and my new glasses (icon) are terrific, and I can see so much better. I have a cataract in my left eye, too - and will have it removed on dec 1. I don't even notice the macular degeneration. But I did suspect a cataract. I have heard of lutein for the eye. Now that soup season is again upon us, I will be having carrots every day. And I should juice them, but cleaning a juicer....

Richard Lynn Livesay, Oct 5, 2009, 11:37AM EDTExcert from Illusion's Garbage by Richard L. Livesay
A whisp of smoke within the willow
Makes me cry upon my pillow.
Political divisions subvert the truth with dark room whispers seeking drunken paths to billionaire’s freedom and numbing consciousness to the reality of economic slavery as the top one percent owns all plantations and will someday hire me at below minimum wage.
Number 666o112X ME & U2... are statistical ghosts and will be remembered as such when rivers cry with bloody bodies from lack of healthcare but insurance and pharma stocks soar as we take a walk down Wall Street.
Uncovering the corpses in my mind, I find I’ve been sold to the highest bidder…and must serve my sentence in the halls of hypocrisy with only a cracked bell and slotted spoon to feed my soul. Vincent’s ear is featured on posters outside hospitals and maps to suicide points are handed out. Insurance is for the wealthy only.
I weep as flies crawl into unborn eyes; small bellies bloat with crusty lips that drink sewer water. Screaming at the eye of the needle, I curse as camels are deflated, downsized then inflated like currency. I, consumer, like a frog, wait for flu bugs to crawl down, am feeling the heat rise as the pot boils.
From other dimensions, I readily understand the theory of weary.
Little progress from the cave to the moon is relatively discouraging.
I pray for popcorn but am still delivered sweat-towels and beaten with razorblades. My eyes cry but cannot look far into this rotten pit.
I must seek vitamin D as a disinfectant and search for “clean” exhaust air.
Teach me how to accept my bruised-blundering malcontent which I find loathsome and dank. Are we human experiments in a giant toilet bowl? Can we lift ourselves beyond greed and corruption and division into the light?
Or must we be chained to the old capitalistic system of greed, more, more, more. When is it enough? When can we enjoy humanness?
Within the willow tree I climb
To see above that I am fine
The smoke below is choking all
But there is choice before the fall.
I seek to dance with gypsies in covered wagons; ride winged horses with elves and dragons; live in bliss like the king of dreams...and
be treated as more than a discounted being. Giving, loving, caring and sharing were once attributes of the human soul. Beware, the bells will toll.
I and over 4,000 look down on our green plots at Arlington
And wonder where our earthly lives went.
We choose to follow a commander,
To invade, destroy and to kill its leader
And be blown apart by roadside bombs and RPG’s..
A whisp of smoke within the willow
Made me cry upon my pillow
Our system is broken, destined to fail
Will we all go down with this tainted grail?
.

A royal rant fit for a king
words too true
auguring the worst to come
may sanity prevail
Wow. Power packed and graphic!
You might consider videotape performance of this for Susan Budig's Writing Essential Prompt.
It would be fabulous to hear and see you read this.

it is a strange system. "the squeky wheel gets the grease" The (lost minority) right wing, party of NO screams the loudest and gets the most attention (the crying babies) We the compassionant majority being "progressive" and trying to "get something done" become the target of the nay sayers. It is easier to "protest" than to do something. I am upset with a lot of Democrats for joining the whiners.

and you see so clearly, Georgiana. It is ashamed that there are people that will believe the lies that are being spread by these "terror" fanatics who love to rule by fear.

sometimes you just gott'a say what's on your mind. Thanks for the acceptance, I'm really for a smaller government. Albert Einstein wrote about Libratarian socialism when he was alive. it's taking the best of the two philosophies and combining them. Capitalism is now equal to corporate greed and 1% of the wealthy make as much as 95% of the rest of us.
and health care should be a right in a modern democracy. We've fallen behind the world because of greed!

A vivid, emotional piece. My favorite lines are "I seek to dance with gypsies in covered wagons; ride winged horses with elves and dragons; live in bliss like the king of dreams...and
be treated as more than a discounted being. Giving, loving, caring and sharing were once attributes of the human soul. " I seek to join you and couldn't help but wonder isn't that the reason we write poetry? Excellent write, Richard. Very moving and thought provoking.

The Global Financial Crisis
meant the poor got rich
The rich got poorer
ain't that a bitch?
We got cheaper petrol
and lower interest rates
they lost billions
in shonky mortgage fates
A middle way
we want to find it
Libertarian socialism
don't mind it
Capitalism is now equal to corporate greed
Don't we need some regulation?
Socialism is now equal to bureaucrat greed
Public servant degeneration.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporationsthat will grow up around them will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered" Thomas Jefferson
"Allow me to issue and control the money of a nation and I care not who writes the laws" Rothschild
ten years after Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve into law, regarding this, he said, "I have unwittingly ruined my country."

I love that you are able to explore such weighted topics in a classically epic/poetic fashion.
Our species has long recorded our culture's waxing and waning through it's artists. I'm picturing this in cuneiform or Mayan hieroglyphics.
Thankyou for sharing with The Surreal Circus

yes, ade, there is something about the Cuneiform clay writings of Sumeria, the hieroglyphs of Egypt...I climbed and saw the mayan writings last yr. in Belize. They are like voices crying from the past saying don't forget me...I'm trying to tell you something.
I'll never forget the line about if we don't learn from the past we are destined to make the same mistakes and then I hear the roar of Rome as we march into our questionable future!

Richard Lynn Livesay, Oct 5, 2009, 11:32AM EDTI too love what you are doing... Its not easy being green...and red....black and blue... Michael Moore is my current hero...in the past it was Che Guevara, Marx, Beauvoir, Gandhi, Einstein's Libertarian socialism, Ezra Pound...and anybody that will stand up against the selfish greed of neo nazi right wing holier than thou concervative, capitalist, racist, hypocritical, war mongering autocrats...and I usually hate calling people names but sometimes I get fed up with all their lying and distorted beliefs... Keep bring ing in the light as Kathy says

Kathy W., Oct 2, 2009, 12:08AM EDTHow the heck are you, sweetie? I'm wishing you the best day possible tomorrow...starting at 6 am (set the damned alarm on the teapot!)
I just wanted to Wham!-by, and tell you that I sincerely admire the effort you're putting on HealthCare Education for the folks here on G. AND, to say thanks for making me giggle, snort and smile.
You bring light. There is no better accolade (besides chocolate) that I can imagine.
Blessed, blessed be.
